Mario Boucher
Storyteller, Journalist, Writer/Editor, Communications Director, Public & Media Relations
I’ve always loved playing hockey, even though I didn’t score as often as I wished! While earning an English degree at York University, I wrote my first professional article after conducting interviews with National Hockey League players.
I honed my reporting skills by covering breaking news, council meetings, and events across sports and entertainment. For example, I attended the opening of an IMAX theater and interviewed Astronaut Chris Hadfield about his journey in space.
I appeared on a live TV show - an exciting and fun experience - to discuss journalism and its impact on society. I developed a unique ability to turn personal anecdotes and intricate details into memorable stories.
I moved to Los Angeles after my mother passed away, initially working as a USPS letter carrier for a year, braving 100-degree heat! That challenging experience increased my resilience and adaptability, reaffirming where my heart belonged: writing and editing.
As a journalist, I met and interviewed high-profile individuals in the entertainment and space industries for print and digital publications.
-
I interviewed Steven Spielberg while attending the opening of the USC Shoah Foundation.
-
I skated alongside members of the Los Angeles Kings following their 2014 championship.
-
On the Universal Studios lot, I had lunch at the Psycho house after interviewing Director Joseph Kosinski and riding in the "Oblivion" spaceship.
-
Courtesy of Universal Studios, I flew to San Francisco to interview the talented artists at Skywalker Ranch, which featured a giant Yoda statue at its entrance.
-
At Pasadena’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, I interviewed NASA engineers and scientists and took photos of the Perseverance rover, which is now on the surface of Mars.
-
A visit to Pasadena’s Planetary Society resulted in one of my most interesting interviews with Bill Nye in his office, exploring astronomy and our place in outer space.
-
While working as a desk editor for a news service agency, I was stationed at the LAPD headquarters. Walking to my car late at night was always an adventure, passing by the various “characters” that strolled the streets of downtown L.A.!
-
And then, there was the true meaning of driving in intense traffic while being a project manager for a subtitle company. Signal lights were optional, apparently.
-
During the COVID pandemic, I wrote several articles on how the pandemic affected communities, interviewing local leaders like John Perez, then Chief of Pasadena Police. He offered a ride over the skies of Southern California in the department’s helicopter. Who knew a helicopter ride would be so much fun? And I didn’t get sick!
I moved east to North Carolina as a single parent, which I discussed on an Undeletable Dad podcast.
As a content manager and communications director, I produced internal and external messages, including press releases, and optimized websites with content and SEO.
As a journalist, I wrote a cover feature on stargazing, traveled back in time at a Renaissance Fair, explored Galaxy Con 2025, and broke loose from a couple of escape rooms. To satisfy my love of music, I attended a candlelight concert and an outstanding performance by Hans Zimmer and his talented musicians.
For Triangle Family magazine, I serve as a contributor, copy editor and digital media specialist.
I am the creator of a fun, chapter book-in-progress featuring cute, mischievous eight-inch creatures who face significant obstacles in a seemingly ordinary home filled with friends and foes—a mix of Minions and Toy Story, with a dash of The Last Kids on Earth and Spy Penguin book series.
